🩺 A Note from the School Nurse…

As the school year begins, I would like to remind parents of some important health and safety requirements to ensure our students remain safe and healthy throughout the year.

Immunization Requirements

All students who turn 11 years old are required to receive the following state-mandated vaccinations (N.J.A.C. 8:57-4):

  • Tdap – Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis booster
  • MCV4 – Meningitis (ACWY)

Please consult your child’s pediatrician to confirm their immunization status. If your child still needs these vaccinations, please have them completed promptly and submit documentation to the Nurse’s Office.

If you do not have health insurance, you may contact the Paterson Division of Health at 973-321-1277 to make an appointment for free immunizations for Paterson Public School students.

Medication at School

In most cases, medication should be given at home outside of school hours. However, if medication is necessary during the school day:

  • A physician’s order is required.
  • Parents/guardians must bring the medication to the Nurse’s Office in person.
  • All medications must be in the original pharmacy-labeled bottle.
  • Please do not send medications to school with your child.

Physical Examination Form

A physical examination is strongly recommended for all 6th grade students and is required for all new students. The official Paterson Public Schools Physical Examination Form can be found on this website.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your cooperation,
